Overview
Stories have been a medium of communicating since the ancient ages. But with the advent of digital age conveying stories has become a familiar medium of expressing oneself. In the era of digital storytelling , visual and oral medium still prevail but through use of new technologies of creating like social media platforms of Reels. Snapchat , Tiktok and Instagram
The project revolves around how enriching stories can be created from captured moments of gallery and camera with the scope of the project being around Video Editing in Galaxy Smartphones ( Gallery video editor, Highlight reel, movie creation, others). Device forms of Flip Fold and tablet may be considered while designing the same.
About my project at Samsung.
Since the onset of pandemic creating and consuming videos has been on the rise. With this as context I got an opportunity to work in the customer experience team as part of the visual experience sub-team. I got involved starting from the secondary and primary research to find the problem scenario and deduce insights from the same. This helped me narrow down my thoughts to crucial user flows which could be improved for a better experience.
During this time at Samsung under amazing mentorship, I got to learn how to align my Why's from each design step to the next. This helped me to formulate my reasoning for each step and make my design call backs much more sound. I learnt as part of my project how story telling has evolved and especially editing part of it in the digital age and how the video revolution is going to transform from democratization of video editing.
Due to Non Disclosure Agreement with Samsung Research Institute Bangalore , I am not able to share my project in details on any public platform. Though I would be happy to discuss about my experience in details if we catch up.
This internship was all done virtually working from home. Though it had its constraints , I tried to make the most of the resources available, starting from Friday evening online informal catch up sessions to brainstorming and ideating with others interns at Samsung.
